Manchester United winger Wilfried Zaha is a transfer target for Crystal Palace as the London side look to strengthen its squad after securing safety in the top flight last season.
Zaha is a product of the famous youth academy of the club and became Sir Alex Ferguson’s last signing as Manchester United manager when the club paid £ 15 million to bring him to Old Trafford in January 2013. He was immediately loaned back to Palace for the second half of the season and was the driving force behind the club’s promotional playoff win against Brighton and Hove Albion.
However, David Moyes, the man who replaced Ferguson at Manchester United following the legendary Scotsman’s retirement from football, did not regard the England Under-21 international as ready for the cutthroat action of the Premier League and only gave him a handful of matches before loaning him out to Cardiff City during the January transfer window.
Crystal Palace wanted the player on loan back then as well but Moyes preferred to send him to Cardiff where he failed to make much of an impact before returning to Old Trafford at the end of the season. And Pulis is ready to try again to bring the former star back to the club, either on loan or on a permanent basis.
But the move hinges on new manager Louis van Gaal rubber stamping his approval and as things stand, he is not too keen to let a young player leave without giving him the chance to shine.
The Crystal Palace boss is also looking at the prospect of bringing in Swansea City forward Michu to bolster his attacking options. The Swans are prepared to sell but with Napoli and Atletico Madrid also interested, things don’t look too bright for Palace or Pulis on this transfer.
