ARSENAL INTERESTED IN URUGUAY MIDFIELDER

Arsenal are in prime position to sign Uruguay midfielder NahitanNandez according to reports from Europe. Nandez was a target for Leeds United but it is understood that the club has shelved its plans for a transfer after losing out on the Premier League. He is one of the highly rated midfielders in South America and has developed into a solid midfielder.

The 23-year old has played 22 games for his county and formed a solid partnership with compatriot Lucas Torreira at the FIFA World Cup in Russia.

It is understood that Unai Emery is in the market for a central midfielder after the exit of Aaron Ramsey to Juventus.  The Gunners are also in danger of losing Nandez fellow countryman Lucas Torreira on a free transfer to Milan.

This has made the club push for the sturdy midfielder as a player that can transform the midfield.

Nandez is capable of playing as a central midfielder, defensive midfield and his versatility make him a good addition to the team.  At 23 years the midfielder still has a lot of years in front of him and could develop into a world-class performer.

Arsenal are on a tight budget with Unai Emery expected to be handed £45 million to fortify the squad.

The Gunners are also in talks with Crystal Palace over the transfer of forward Wilfred Zaha. It is understood that both teams are locked in talks with the Eagles demanding a transfer fee of £80 million for his services.

Nandez is believed to be valued at around £25 million and West Ham are the latest club to be linked with the players.

The Hammers are big spenders having splashed out over £100 million on new signings. It is thought that manager Manuel Pellegrini wants a midfielder that can provide steel to the centre of the park. It remains to be seen whether the Gunners can be able to secure this transfer.
