Ian Holloway has admitted that he is extremely disappointed to see his team conceded late goal and allow teams to take points off them. The Crystal Palace manager, though, has admitted that he could not for his players when it comes to the effort they put into the match. Crystal Palace have been suffering from a poor run of form in recent times. However, they looked like having turned down the corner in the recent match against Nottingham Forest. After taking the lead after just 9 min, the club managed to throw away the lead due to a late equaliser.
Glen Murray opened the scoring for Crystal Palace after just 9 min on the clock. However, Andy Reid equalised for Nottingham Forest just minutes into the injury time of the first half. Palace once again took the lead through Murray – who scored his second goal of the match – only for them to concede yet another late equaliser in the 90th minute. The 90th minute goal from Billy Sharp meant that Crystal Palace have now slipped into the third position in the table. This is as a result of the recent poor run of form, which has seen the team take just one victory in the month of December.
“I thought for 75 per cent of the time, we looked a very good side. The other 25 per cent of that was just before half-time when we went deep and couldn’t get out. They scored in that period, and up until that point I thought we looked very good. We got ourselves into a winning position again and let it slip with five extra minutes added on,” said Ian Holloway after the match. The club will now be facing the Premier league opposition Stoke city in the third round of the FA Cup.
